ILOILO CITY (PIA) -- The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) 6 introduced several enhancements on its benefit packages bound to be implemented this year, marking its 28th anniversary.

In line with the mandate stipulated under the Universal Health Care (UHC), PhilHealth continuously works on the expansion and implementation of responsive steps to cater to the medical needs of the Filipinos conducive to the changing times.

The insurance corporation will likewise provide P270,000 financial support to patients who are on peritoneal dialysis and pay P600,000 to organ donors for renal patients qualified under its “Z Benefits for Kidney Transplantation.”

Enhancements in select Z benefit packages for patients who have health conditions requiring prolonged hospitalization and costly treatments that includes orthopedic implants, kidney transplantation, breast, cervical, and prostate cancers, and open-heart surgeries for children are also among the pipelined benefits set to be expanded this year.

PhilHealth also views to rationalize select inpatient case rates particularly moderate and high-risk pneumonia and acute stroke, both ischemic and hemorrhagic, as these are the most common cases availed in the recent years per insurance corporation’s account held.

Additionally, it also works on strengthening its recently rolled out program, the Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama (KonSulta) program where members and dependents can avail of the primary health care services encompassing professional services, diagnostic services, and medicines for the common conditions like hypertension, diabetes and dyslipidemia, among others.

PhilHealth 6 noted that there are already 125 accredited KonSulta providers in the region as of January 2023.
