ILOILO CITY (PIA) - - The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) VI turned over checks worth P18,045,000.00 under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program to benefit 3,950 informal workers from the 96 villages of the five municipalities of the island-province of Guimaras.

In a simple ceremony, Regional Director lawyer Sixto T. Rodriguez, Jr.  turned over the checks to Guimaras Lone District Representative Ma. Lucille L. Nava and Guimaras Governor JC Rahman A. Nava for wages of the qualified beneficiaries.

On top of the personal protective equipment and GSIS group personal insurance, each beneficiary will also be provided with P4,500 wages for a 10-day community service starting March 1-14, 2023.

Rodriguez, whose leadership is anchored mainly on pro-poor services, underscored the urgency of providing employment to the vulnerable sector to help uplift their living economic condition.

He said the Regional Office, through its provincial offices, is fast tracking the

program implementation to reach the farthest barangays and the widest range of beneficiaries.

DOLEs flagship employment program, TUPAD, is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers.
