DPWH NE 1st DEO completes flood wall in Quezon

TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija (PIA) -- Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Nueva Ecija 1st District Engineering Office completed a slope protection in Quezon town.

The P9.8-million infrastructure is located along Malayop Creek in barangay Dulong Bayan.

Assistant District Engineer Osias Santos said the project has a total length of 319.4 lineal meters. It was built to protect properties and livelihood of residents living near the creek.

“We are aware that this agricultural community lies along the Malayop Creek and is prone to severe flooding, and some residents have expressed that they fear for their safety especially during the rainy season,” Santos shared.

Completion of the infrastructure will prevent upstream water from inundating residential areas.

The municipal government committed to fund the continuation of the project in order to better protect residents from the hazards of flooding. (CLJD-PIA 3)
