SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA) – The Provincial Government of La Union spearheaded the commemoration of the province’s 173rd Founding Anniversary on Thursday, March 2.
Governor Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David, along with Sangguniang Panlalawigan members, city/municipal mayors, and other local officials led the ceremonial flag raising ceremony staged at the capitol grounds here.
In a message, Governor David thanked the people and noted how unity and cooperation helped the province surpass the challenges over the years.
Local officials of the Province of La Union, led by Governor Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David, along with the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members and other local chief executives, raise the flags of the provincial government and their respective local government units.
"We are winning the most important battles because we are one, and we choose to help one another," David said.
She added, "I give thanks with a grateful heart because in times of unity and cooperation, we, the people of La Union, did not fail to deliver."
The governor hopes that the province will remain united with the same goal and vision, which is to uplift the lives of every citizen of the province.
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the symbolic puzzle arrangement of the province's map and seal.

"Very symbolic po ang ginawa nating lahat na pagbuo ng puzzle ngayon na mapa at seal ng La Union dahil it goes to show na lahat po tayo ay may kanya-kanyang role para makamit po natin ang mga inaasam at gusto nating mangyari para sa ating probinsya," David said.
The event concluded with the raising of the flags of each local government unit of the province.
This is the first full blast face-to-face celebration of foundation day as it was suspended for the past three years due to the threats of the COVID-19 pandemic. (JCR/AMB/CGRC, PIA Region 1)
