Gov't services reaches brgys in Siquijor

SAN JUAN, Siquijor, March 1 (PIA) -- Residents of Barangays Timbaon and Cangmunag in San Juan, Siquijor have availed of the government services through the  program dubbed Joint Various  Services Venture (JVSV) of the Provincial Government of Siquijor in parnertship with the various government offices.

JVSV is one of Gov. Jake Vincent Villa's initiatives to bring the government programs and services closer to the residents' place by going directly to barangays instead of waiting for the barangay folks to come to the Capitol.

This is the second round since its launch on Dec. 14, 2022  in San Antonio covered court in Siquijor town for Barangays Cantabon, Canghunoghunog, San Antonio, and Tebjong.

Present in the caravan were the various heads of offices of the provincial government including the Integrated Provincial Hospital Office (IPHO) led by Dr. George Walthrode Opay, whose office rendered free medical and dental services such as medical consultation, dental consultation and extraction, as well as free medicines (vitamins and maintenance) to almost a hundred beneficiaries.

The Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) led by the Provincial Veterinarian, Dr. Jhea Manginsay also offered spay and neuter services as well as anti-rabies vaccination to about 50 cats and dogs.

At least 89 Day-Care Center children received educational materials consisting of Alamat, language, reading, and writing books through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office together with Chief of Staff Atty. Dale Louis Tudtud of the Provincial Government of Siquijor.

In lieu of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), the PSWDO distributed payout to more than 30 beneficiaries of the Special Program on the Employment of Students (SPES) who worked for 20 days.

They also provided wheelchairs and canes to give convenience to the Persons with Disability (PWDs) present in the event.

The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) and the Provincial Agricultural Technology and Coordinating Office (PATCO) were also flocked by locals for their services which include distribution of free seedlings, vegetable seeds, fermented fruit juice for organic vegetable growing, and giving of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials such as production guides on corn, cassava, cacao, and labana.

They also catered to consultations about the different techniques for developing plants, fisheries, animals, and many more.

The Tubod Vegetable Growers Association (TVGA) in San Juan was given the opportunity to display its farm fresh and affordable products including calamansi, peanuts, crops, vegetables, and finished food products like squash chips, cassava suman, and boiled maize.

This opportunity has a significant impact on the residents of Barangay Timbaon and Cangmunag because they were able to not only promote their products but also help other consumers to save money as the Provincial Government of Siquijor delivers JVSV Caravan closer to serve the people, (RAC/PIA7/MFHammond)
