CEBU CITY, Cebu, Feb. 27 (PIA) -- President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. led the groundbreaking ceremony of the housing project under his flagship the “Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Housing” (4PH) at the South Reclamation Project (SRP), Brgy. Basak San Nicolas, Cebu City.
In his message, Pres. Marcos said this program was initiated by the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) to build one million houses every year during his term.
“Dahil ang kakulangan ng housing para sa ating mga kababayan ay tamang-tama umabot na sa 6 million ang kulang at isa ito sa mga solusyon upang maibsan ang problema ng kakulangan ng bahay sa ating bansa at mabigyan ng disente at komportableng pamumuhay ang ating mga kababayan,” he said.
For Cebu, the South Coastal Urban Development Project is composed of three phases in different areas in Cebu City covering 60 hectares.
The first phase of the project comprises 10 of 20-storey buildings within the 25-hectare development site.
It will benefit around 8,000 informal settler families, low-wage earners, living in the danger zone, and those who will acquire affordable and comfortable houses.
The president said the purpose of this project is to provide a prosperous, safe and happy life for each Filipino family that involves the transformation of informal settlers into prime residential sites.
The President is also grateful to the Cebu City government for supporting the said project, as he assured the Cebuanos of durable, quality houses that will be resilient against calamities.
The local government units are responsible for identifying areas that are suitable for housing and mixed-use development, processing of developmental loans for housing projects, identification of beneficiaries and development of project concept.
Meanwhile, DHSUD Sec. Jose Rizalino Acuzar expressed his gratitude to the president for his support in the implementation of this project.
Acuzar assured the President that they will double their efforts for the successful implementation of the “Pambansang Pabahay” project. (HFG/PIA7)
