In a ceremony at the University of Antique (UA), DICT Sec. Ivan John Uy said that it has always been their agency’s objective to provide Filipinos with internet access that brings connectivity and the many opportunities that come along.

He added that this program, anchored in the Marcos Administration’s “Build Better More” thrust, form part of the President’s digital transformation initiatives as a key agenda for the country in the next six years.

The official also expressed appreciation to Sen. Legarda, the principal author of Republic Act. No. 10844 which created the DICT, for her support of the field of ICT and efforts to advance digitalization as a means for progress and economic development.

The Senator added that, together with her brother Antique Lone District Representative Antonio Legarda, Jr. as her partner in Congress, digital inclusion for all will be prioritized in their work as legislators.

For their part, Cong. Legarda and Governor Rhodora Cadiao thanked the national officials for the outpour of support in achieving a digitally-empowered Antique, where remote communities and all five campuses of the University of Antique (UA) system will benefit from the BBMP.

The DICT, in partnership with the Office of Senator Loren Legarda, also inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Local Government Units (LGU) of Antique for the launch of e-Governance aimed at securing an interconnected, transparent, and citizen-centric government through emerging technologies.
