BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) - - Officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) have hailed the opening of the Bayombong-Solano Bypass Road as it will open up additional economic opportunities for the two towns.
Regional Director Reynaldo Alconcel said the 6.202 kilometer - long P470.11 million Solano-Bayombong Bypass road is the longest bypass road recently completed in Cagayan Valley.
“It will bring utmost convenience in transporting agricultural and commercial products from the countryside to major economic hubs in urban areas,” he said.
Alconcel said the completed project will also open up sites for industrial development creating new communities providing employment and livelihood opportunities for locals.
Last month, officials of the SM Prime Holdings met with Bayombong Mayor Tony Sergio Bagasao and laid down their upcoming plan to start the construction of their SM Mega Mall near the mega by-pass road.
Bagasao said the completed by-pass road will attract more investors in their municipality like the SM Prime Holdings which will start their construction next year.
He said the SM Mega Mall will provide 2,500 jobs where 70 percent of the hired workers will come from their municipality.
The four-lane bypass road equipped with traffic light system, light posts, lay-by areas, sidewalks, bicycle and pedestrian lanes will reduce travel time and cost for the public.
Alconcel, the DPWH Regional Director said with the completed by-pass road, the travel time between Nueva Vizcaya to Manila is significantly reduced 40 to 50 minutes benefitting 10,000 travelers per day.
He said the completed project involves the construction of four lane concrete road with a total length of 6.202 kilometers with a 13.4m carriageway width, 300mm thickness concrete including Road Right of Way (RROW) acquisition.
Alconcel said the new road ensures the continuous movement of goods serving as an alternate route going to the National Capital Region (NCR) and other regions improving road safety and decongesting traffic along Daang Maharlika.
Funded under the Regular Infrastructure Program and implemented under Multi Year Contracting Authority (MYCA) for FY 2018-2022, the super highway type alternate road will also serve as tourism and recreational area for residents and visitors. (MDCT/BME/PIA Nueva Vizcaya)
