MONTALBAN, Rizal (PIA) — The Montalban Municipal Government joined the global community in celebrating the 2023 International Women’s Day on March 8 with a blood donation drive, cervical cancer awareness seminar, and Human Papillomavirus Vaccinations.
Montalban Municipal Gender and Development focal person Sherill Emmerson told Philippine Information Agency-Rizal that the local government unit has other activities in store for its constituents, including indigenous peoples in far-flung areas for the Women’s Month celebration.
Emmerson added that the municipal government has partnered with the Department of Trade and Industry-Rizal for the livelihood and entrepreneurship training for IPs of Barangay Puray, Montalban, Rizal, from March 27-28.
One of the town’s remote communities, Barangay Puray is known for eco-tourism sites such as Puray Falls and livelihood generation for IPs, particularly women, seen as a boon to the far-flung community.
The Montalban GAD Office also targets Sitio Harangan in Barangay Macabud as the venue for an upcoming orientation on responsible parenthood, violence against women and children, and the solo parent welfare act along with a medical mission, sports clinic, and rug-making livelihood seminar on March 24.
A series of Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Gender Expression Bill (SOGIE) Bill orientations is set on March 15 and 25. (GG/PIA-Rizal)
