Philippine Navy invites online applicants for entrance exam

LEGAZPI CITY, ALBAY (PIA5/Albay)--The Philippine Navy encourages aspiring applicants to submit their online application until March 10, Friday. 

‘’The application process will be done online for the applicant's convenience and for them to save their money. Instead of going to our office, they can apply through using internet,’’ Public Affairs Officer  Lt. Rechiel Gatarin  of Naval Forces Southern Luzon said.

Gatarin announced that the online application already started on February 27 and was closed on March 3.

To accomodate additional applicants, they re opened the online application utilizing the registration link https://tinyurl.com/t7595prm from March 6 until March 10 from 8AM to 5PM.

Gatarin stressed that they will not be accepting walk in applicants.

Courses, qualifications and requirements

‘’We are offering two courses to be qualified in the Philippine Navy, first is to be an officer; secondl is to be a sailor,’’ Lt. Gatarin said.

The first course offerring is the Naval Officer Candidate Course (NOCC). Applicants should be a natural born citizen, baccalaureate degree holder (preferably technical courses, at least 21 to 27 years old, 152.4cm or 5’0 height for both male and female, single and never been married and no child, of good moral character and mentally fit for training.

The application requirements for online application of NOCC were, Diploma, Transcript of Records (TOR) and PSA Birth Certificate.

‘’Before the application requirements of the applicants, we are conducting background investigation,’’ Lt. Gatarin said.

He highlighted that they need to guarantee that the submitted documents and personal information of the applicants is true and correct.

‘’Applicants should be ‘single’ because they will experience rigid training, and physical requirements are needed. Their concentration might be affected, and if an applicant is a woman who already gave birth, her performance in the training might be affected,’’ Lt. Gatarin said.

Further, K-12 graduates who have at least 72 units of college course from educational institution or at least completed schooling or training from the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) with any Technical Course with National Certificate (NCII) can apply for Sailor Basic Course (SBC).

Applicants should be a natural born Filipino citizen, 18 to 26  years old, single and never been married, has never gave birth or sired a child, physically and mentally fit and of good moral character.

‘’The requirements for SBC are diploma, Transcript Of Records (TOR) TESDA NC II (if any) and PSA birth certificate,’’ Lt. Gatarin said.

Gatarin noted that the trainees should be mentally, physically and emotionally fit because they will be taken out of their comfort zone.

‘’Naval officers has a minimum of one (1) year training while sailors has a minimum of six (6) months training,’’ Lt. Gatarin said.

He added that the exam coverage was more on verbal reasoning, and general knowledge.

‘’Applicants are not required to know how to swim, all of them will be trained, after the training they should know how to swim,’’ Lt. Gatarin said.

Benefits in joining Philippine Navy

‘’During the training, applicants will be provided with monthly pay and allowances,’’ Lt. Gatarin said.

According to Lt. Gatarin, NOCC has allowances and minimum pay of Php45,000 which is equivalent to salary Grade 18.

‘’Trainees will also receive more benefits and privileges other than their monthly pay and allowances,’’ Lt. Gatarin said.

Lt. Gatarin advised the aspiring officers and sailors of the Philippine Navy to read the post that they have released on their facebook page.

‘’We are encouraging all of the qualified youths to apply and take the exam, if your courses don't fit with the stated requirements, you should still try,’’ Lt. Gatarin said.
