BFP Camarines Norte to train youth in fire response

DAET, Camarines Norte (PIA) –In line with the  Fire Prevention Month celebration this month,  the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) will provide training on firefighting and response to youth and students.

This will be through the BFP Fire Square Road Show and Batang SIKAT (Sunog-Sakuna Iwasan, Kabataan Ating Turuan ) program.

During the “Talakayan sa PIA” cum radio program held via Zoom on Monday, March 6, BFP Deputy Provincial Fire Marshal CInsp. Adonis D. Osea said that Fire Square Road Show is an interactive-learning activity where the youth will participate in the actual scenarios of incidents and learn how to deal with them.

Osea said that the roadshow will be held  from March 14 to 15,  at the SM City Daet. The BFP will install 12 booths to showcase different activities for the youth participants and walk-ins.  Among these are teaching them how to do cardiopulmonary resuscitation or CPR, bandaging, and other fire incident emergency responses.

The Batang SIKAT on the other hand is a two-day contest encampment pioneered in Camarines Norte through the effort of Provincial Fire Marshal Supt. Nolito F. Bearis. The activity will be held on  March 16-17 at Sanayang Pangkaligtasan, Sitio- Mat-I Brgy. Sto. Domingo Vinzons.

The target participants are youth and students who already pre-registered per municipality and will compete in different emergency drills.  Winners of the contests will be given prizes. The activity is in partnership with the provincial government of Camarines Norte.

The month-long activities are already institutionalized. Earlier this month,  the BFP conducted kick-off activities per municipality . These are  centered on community fire prevention campaign and Oplan Ligtas ng Pamayanan, he said.


Other month-long activities are Kaisa Partnership Campaign, Massive Oplan Ligtas na Pamayanan, and Community Relations Week (COMRES), BFP PIO FO1 Donela Joy Abellano.

Community Relations Week activities include art, poster making, digital photo, and essay writing contests. There will be a  municipal level selection. The provincial level elimination will be on March 15 while the regional selection will be on March 20. Awarding of  winners is slated on March 31.

This year’s theme  is “Sa Pag-iwas ng Sunod, Hindi ka Nag-iisa.”
