CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) - - The Tabuk City local government units (CLGU) and the Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development (DHSUD) recently inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the implementation of the national housing program in the city especially for the informal settlers.
City Mayor Darwin C. Estrañero representing Tabuk CLGU signed with DHSUD represented by Secretary Jose Rizalino L. Acuzar the MOU on March 9 at the latter’s headquarters in Quezon City. The Pambansang Pabahay Para Sa Pilipino aims to construct one million homes annually, or six million homes overall, over the course of six years.
This collaboration would enable Tabukeños particularly families of informal who cannot currently afford to build a house to own one and live full-life on a home at affordable cost. The MOU stipulates for Tabuk CLGU to find adequate and secure locations for housing projects, among other provisions.
Estrañero expressed his gratitude for the inclusion of Tabuk City in the program and the opportunity to partner with the national government in achieving its vision to provide decent and affordable home for Filipinos.
“The partnership with DHSUD will give some Tabukeños the opportunity to contribute to the socio-economic growth of the community,” he said.
In a related development, the CLGU is finalizing the resettlement area for those affected from the clearing of road right-of-way at barangay Nambaran. A project proposal in partnership with the National Housing Authority (NHA), the Land Development and Home Building Authority (LDHBA) was signed to signify the CLGU’s commitment in making Tabuk city beautiful, liveable and condusive to business and tourism.
