TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) - - Athletes from the municipality of Amulung have brought home the championship trophy in the recently concluded Cagayan Provincial Athletic Association 2023.
In the official result released by the Committee on Documentation and Contest Tabulation chaired by Andrew Toribio Taaca, Amulung town emerged as the overall champion with 81 medals consisting of 56 gold, 16 silver and 18 bronze.
Santa Ana secured the second spot with 81 medals which consist of 38 gold, 27 silver and 16 bronze, then Pamplona with 88 medals which consist of 33 gold, 20 silver and 35 bronze.
In the elementary level, Peñablanca was declared champion with 18 gold medals, 10 silver and 8 bronze; followed by Santa Ana with 18 gold, 8 silver and 4 bronze; Amulung in the 3rd place with 18 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze; and Pamplona in the 4th place with 14 gold, 15 silver and 12 bronze.
In the secondary level, Amulung also brought home the championship trophy with 33 golds, 14 silver and 16 bronze; followed by Ballesteros with 23 gold, 21 silver and 14 bronze; Santa Ana secured the 3rd place with 20 gold, 19 silver and 12 bronze; Pamplona in the 4th place with 19 gold, 15 silver and 13 bronze.
The second congressional district was also declared the overall champion per district, followed by the first and third congressional districts.
With this, Cagayan province, also known as the maroon team, is now ready to compete in the 2023 Cagayan Valley Regional Athletic Association next month to be hosted by the City of Ilagan, Isabela. (OTB/ PIA Region 2)
