BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) - -  The Local Government Unit of Solano has asked the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to cause the temporary closure of the Bayombong-Solano Bypass Road due to the emergence of road accidents.

The request was made by the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) to enable the DPWH to immediately complete the installation of additional road signages and traffic lights within the 6.7 kilometer stretch of the more than P300 million Bayombong-Solano Bypass Road.

“Since the commencement of its operation, numerous accidents  were recorded along the Bypass Road, particularly at the intersection located at Barangay Bagahabag of this town,” Vice Mayor Eduardo Tiongson said.

Tiongson said there is a need for the DPWH 1st District Engineering Office for the immediate construction and installation of additional road signages and traffic lights within the alternate road which was constructed to lessen the traffic within the towns of Bayombong and Solano.

He said they strongly believe that the inadequate road signages, traffic lights and other accident preventive measures at specific locations within the Bypass road are among the factors that caused these accidents to happen.

Copies of the SB resolution were sent to Mayor Philip Dacayo, Bayombong Mayor Tony Sergio Bagasao, Barangay Captain Eduardo Bangad, Sr. of Bagahabag, Solano Chief of Police Anthony Payungo, DPWH First Engineering District Engineer Marifel Andes ad DPWH Regional Director Reynaldo Alconcel.
