Prov'l council cites Antiqueño PAF general

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) -- The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) here has commended Philippine Air Force (PAF) Brigadier General Ronie D. Petinglay O-11232 for his promotion to the rank and bringing prestige and honor to Antique.

During Monday's flag-raising ceremony of the provincial government, the Provincial Council, through SP presiding officer Vice Governor Edgar Denosta and resolution author SP Member Pio Jessielito Sumande,  presented to Brig. Gen. Petinglay SP Resolution No. 241-2023, commending his achievement in military service.

Brig. Gen. Petinglay, who was born in San Remigio town, is the first  Antiqueño general who graduated from the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) in 1993.

He currently serves as the commander of the 580th Aircraft Control and Warning Wing, after holding key positions in the air force such as Director for Capabilities and Weapon Systems, Chief of Plans and Programs of the 505th Search and Rescue Group, Director for Materiel of the Air Defense Wing, and Director for Operations of Headquarters Air Defense Wing, among many others.

For his two decades in military service now, Brig. Gen. Petinglay received both local and international training, including the Command and General Staff Course (GSC) at the Air Force Command College, People's Liberation Army in Beijing, China.

He is also a Chief of Air Force Fellow at the Power Development Center in Canberra, Australia, and a recipient of numerous awards, such as one "Medalya ng Pambansang Paglilingkod," two Distinguished Service Stars, eight Meritorious Achievement Medals, and many more, all of which signify his service and commitment to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

In his message, the general said that his acceptance of the commendation from the provincial council is not only for the sake of honor, but to serve as an opportunity to inspire the young generation to accomplish great things.

He added that the youth must persevere, endure hardships, and bank on their individual capacities in pursuit of their dreams, noting that "Basta Antiqueño may talento."

Vice Governor Denosta and SP Member Sumande, together with other provincial officials, led the presentation of the provincial council resolution to the general.

The PAF official is also in the province to present before members of the Sanggunian a proposal to revive the PAF facility in Mt. Aliwliw, Anini-y town. (AAL/BPS/UA Intern Amsie Alliah Abrico/PIA Antique)
