LA TRINIDAD Benguet (PIA) - - The Department of Education – Cordillera Regional Office continues with its
'inclusion for inclusivity' initiative and adds more gender and development programs into its calendar of activities.

DEPED – CAR Education Program Supervisor and Human Resource Development Division OIC Sasha Joseph Daganos, in a Kapihan media forum here, reported that in celebration of Women’s Month, they have resumed their ReGADnition (Recognizing Gender and Development Notable Implementers with distinction) Award that includes categories on Outstanding School Division Office GAD Implementer, Empowered Women and Most Gender Sensitive Personnel.
Daganos also shared new GAD initiatives. The “Project Handog kay Juana” was conceptualized with all genders and sexual orientation or gender identity in mind. This involves the establishment of a fully functional separate comfort rooms for male and female including the LGBTQIA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning, intersex, asexual, and more) learners, and a hygienic and with the needed amenities comfort rooms for female learners having their menstruation period.
DepEd–CAR Regional Director Estela Cariño led other officials in the inauguration of such first ever gender sensitive facility in the Cordillera Region on Monday(March 20) at the Ubao National High School in the municipality of Aguinaldo in Ifugao.
The DepEd – CAR also conceptualized “Project KALINGA – KAramay, LINGap at Aruga” that aims to support bullied individuals especially women and girls, inside and outside of the education department.
We are now looking into partnerships for such endeavor, Daganos said.
The Kapihan media forum was part of the quarterly activity of DepEd – CAR, in partnership with the Philippine Information Agency – Cordillera to give regular updates on the Education Department’s accomplishments in line with the “Matatag” thrust of Education Secretary and Vice President Sara Duterte.
