PNP-IAS bares new inspection and audit model

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet (PIA) -- The Philippine National Police - Internal Affairs Service (PNP-IAS) will enforce new inspection and audit model.

PNP-IAS Inspector General Atty. Alfegar Triambulo, during his command visit and talk to the personnel of Police Regional Office – Cordillera on March 24, said the IAs will implement the new model which is community-service and problem-oriented, and aligned with the MKK=K Framework of PNP Chief PGen. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr.

With the new model which is community-service and problem-oriented, Triambulo said the IAS will check police officers and their beat. They will also have a dialogue with the community on what they think the PNP should be doing in their locality and how they think police should conduct themselves and which community problems to be addressed.

The IAS will then exercise its inspection and audit function to verify how the local police are faring regarding community expectations and verify police actions.

"This is the mission we take - to prevent police officers from falling into the abyss of corruption, to punish those who conduct themselves wrongly, and to restore discipline, good behavior, and public trust," Triambulo said.

To reinforce the Internal Disciplinary Mechanisms, Triambulo said their investigation would include supervisors and superiors in all internal affairs investigations, exercising their authority to investigate command responsibility.

The IAS will examine supervisory accountability by investigating immediate supervisors and squad leaders for their conspiracy, omission, or lapses in supervision and management. Likewise, co-workers and peers who fail to act on their buddy's misconduct or neglect will also be investigated for their liability for, if not complicity, negligence of duty to prevent illicit or unethical conduct.

"With these efforts, we are committed and trusting to have all our personnel, from the directors to each one of us, regardless of rank and designation, to heed the call of honor and integrity as gallant members of the PNP service. We all have a part in this change, and as we go along, the IAS is your partner," Triambulo said.

He assured that the IAS will constantly be the champion of police service integrity and partner of systematic change, and ensure an efficient and effective community- and service-oriented PNP. (JDP/DEG-PIA CAR)
