Roxas City museum opens Capicenas 'tipas painting' exhibit

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) -- Various painting masterpieces drawn by Capicena visual artists opened, March 18, at the Roxas City museum "Ang Panubli-on" in view of the National Women's Month (NWM) celebration this March.

The exhibit was dubbed "Bayi-Bayi Capiznon Women Exhibition" and will run until the first week of April this year.

"Women arists take on a media representing the resilience and beauty of the female gender. Art is everywhere and for this month witness the "tipas," a symbol of feminine strength, industry and domestic dedication become a canvas for Capiznon women's creativity," said  Ang Panublion' statement on the exhibit.

"Tipas" is a local term for bilao or a traditional bamboo basket tray.

The opening ceremony of the exhibit was graced Roxas City vice mayor Teresa "Inday" Almalbis, Sangguniang Panlalawigan member Thea Faith Reyes and museum curator Michelle Del Rosario, among others.

The Ang Panublion has also scheduled a free workshop on limited slots for women and students as part of the NWM celebration.
