BAGUIO CITY (PIA) -- The local government unit of Tublay was recently conferred the 2021 Nutrition Honor Award (NHA), the highest award given to a local government unit for its successful and outstanding performance in nutrition program management for six consecutive years.

Mayor Armando Lauro together with Councilor Jovelyn Desierto and Municipal Health Officer Dr. Gharie Liza Felipe received the award during the National Nutrition Awarding Ceremony held at The Manila Hotel, Monday (March 20, 2023). They were joined by NNC-Cordillera Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Bella Basalong.

Tublay received a cash grant of P1 million, and an NHA trophy inspired by the flame pattern of the CROWN (Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition) trophy which symbolizes the burning desire and unending commitment of the LGUs towards nutrition improvement.

Tublay LGU is among the six LGU NHA awardees who were monitored by the inter-agency regional nutrition evaluation team from 2015 to 2017and by inter-agency national nutrition evaluation team from 2018 to 2021.

In his response message, Lauro expressed his gratitude to those who in one way or another, contributed to such achievement as he assured the continuous implementation of their programs.
 
"The 'organic' municipality of Tublay is indeed so humbled and honored to accept this award bestowed to a simple municipality. We assure the continuity of our programs not only for the award but for our constituents as we have committed to them and to Almighty God," the mayor said.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Tagulingon, the Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (MNAO) of Asipulo, Ifugao received a Certificate of Merit for being one of the national contenders for the Search for National Outstanding City/Municipal Nutrition Action Officer.

Tagulingon is the Cordillera Region's outstanding MNAO. He is the lone Local Nutrition Focal Point (LNFP) contender of CAR for said national award.
 
The annual awarding features high-performing LGUs and LNFPs screened through series of evaluation activities focused on good practices enabling them to have multi-sectoral plans and partnerships, and increased investments in nutrition and strong nutrition governance.
