ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) -- Two former rebels in the province received P130,000.00 financial assistance from the government's Enhanced Comprehensive Livelihood Integration Program (E-CLIP), March 24, at the Provincial Capitol, here.

The distribution of financial assistance was led by Gov. Fredenil Castro, 301st Infantry Brigade Deputy Brigade Commander Col. Leroy S. Daanton, Capiz Police director Col. Jerome D. Afuyog, Jr., 12 Infantry Battalion commander Lt. Col. Antonio T. Timbal, Department of the Interior and Local Government  provincial director Cherryl  Tacda, and  Provincial Social Welfare and Development  Office-Capiz E-CLIP forcal person Jurine Tan.

The governor  also personally handed over the P10,000.00 financial assistance of the Capiz provincial government to each of the three FRs last December 2022.

Castro welcomed the FRs as he conveyed his gladness on their decision to surrender and embrace a peaceful and productive life again.

For his part, 301st Infantry Brigade commander Col. Michael Samson said he hopes that all the assistance provided by the government will be used in renewing and starting a productive life in the community.

“Our government continuously offers many opportunities to help the former rebels to become productive individuals," Samson said, adding that the government and the Army will continue to look forward to help the former CTG combatants to live progressively and peacefully with their families.

In 2022, at least 53 Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) members and its mass supporters were neutralized by the policemen through its various local police stations as well as two Provincial Mobile Force Companies and partnership with the Philippine Army based on the Capiz Police Provincial Office records.

These include nine CTG members arrested, 20 rebels who surrendered to authorities and 24 CTG mass supporters who have withdrawn support from the communist group. (JBG/AAL/PIA Capiz)
