DOLE: Pre-registration speeds up job application process

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-10 emphasized that pre-registration can speed up the application process at a job fair.

DOLE-10 Technical Director Atheneus Vasallo said applicants who pre-register don't have to line up in long queues but can proceed directly to the referral section.

"The process is that applicants will undergo referral, may table for referral. So kapag nakaonline register ka na, you don't have to fill out the form. The in-charge of referral will just have to log into the computer and refer to the applicant kung asa siya mo fit nga company," he said in a press conference, March 28.

So, DOLE-10 asked people looking for work to sign up ahead of time for the "Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso" Philippine Tourism Job Fair.
The said tourism job fair is set to be held, March 30–31 in three regions across the country. The northern Mindanao leg will be staged at the Limketkai Center in Cagayan de Oro City.

Regional Director Marie Elaine Unchuan of the Department of Tourism (DOT)-10 backed Vasallo's statement, saying those who have pre-registered will be given priority during the job fair.

"You know we have 2,000 job vacancies. Kini man gud ma-prioritize ni sila pag naa sila'y (they will be prioritized if they have an) online application. So it's better if, beforehand, makahatag na sila sa ilang requirements sa DOLE (that they can submit their requirements to DOLE)," she said.

To date, a total of 2,254 job openings are up for grabs for job seekers who will participate in the said event.
