KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato (PIA) -- The Bureau of Internal Revenue - Revenue District Office (BIR-RDO) 111 registered the highest tax collection of all the RDOs in Soccsksargen Region, an official of the bureau announced Tuesday.
Evelyn Mallilin, revenue district officer, reported during the 2023 Tax Campaign kick off that in 2022 BIR-RDO 111's cumulative tax collection amounted to P2.375 billion, which was 15.97 percent over its annual goal of P2.084 billion.
"We rank number 1 region-wide," she said.
BIR-RDO 111 covers the entire province of South Cotabato, including the city of Koronadal and the municipalities of Polomolok, Tupi, Tampakan, Tantangan, Banga, Norala, Surallan, Sto.Niño, Lake Sebu, and Tboli.
Mallilin attributed their achievement to the "efficient and timely withholding and remittance of taxes from suppliers of goods and services. "
Collection from withholding taxes, she noted, amounted to P1.40 billion or 68.79 percent of the office's total collection.
"Your contribution have helped support the priority programs of the government, the delivery of basic social services, healthcare, and infrastructure," she told hundreds of taxpayers, tax collectors, and other stakeholders attending the tax campaign launch.
BIR's tax campaign this year is anchored on the slogan, "Tulong-tulong sa Pagbangon, Kapit Kamay sa Pag-ahon, Buwis na Wasto Alay para sa Pilipino."
"This is aligned with the Filipino resilience and Bayanihan spirit which were shown in the time of pandemic and at times of calamities. We survive because of our various ways to help and support each other. The Bayanihan spirit of the Filipinos comes to fore and brings out the best in all of us," she explained.
The deadline for the filing of annual income tax returns (ITR) and payment of taxes due for Calendar Year 2022 is on April 17, 2023. (PIA SOCCSKSARGEN)
