KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato (PIA) -- The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) here is intensifying its fire safety awareness campaign for the community as part of the Fire Prevention Month celebration this March.
According to SFO1 Rodrigo Peralta Jr., they already conducted some 25 fire safety lectures for schools, government agencies, private companies, and commercial establishments for this month alone.
In these lectures, BFP Koronadal personnel emphasized the importance of being alert in times of fire incidents, practicing fire exit drills, learning how to use fire extinguishers, and eliminating fire hazards.
Peralta also advised the public to regularly check electrical installation at homes and workplaces as faulty or loose wirings and overloaded electrical connections are the common causes of fire incidents.
Residents should always practice unplugging unused appliances and overloading electrical sockets to avoid electrical circuits.
Fire Prevention Month is observed nationwide by virtue of Proclamation No. 115-A, signed by then President Ferdinand E. Marcos. (PIA 12)
