The municipality of Nueva Era and its eight barangays, one in Laoag City, five in Paoay, and two from the municipality of Solsona are applying to de declared as drug-free communities.
The Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing (ROCBDC) will deliberate on these localities this April.
For Balay Silangan, there are 12 functioning facilities in the province located in the towns of Pagudpud, Pasuquin, Bangui, Paoay, Badoc, Nueva Era, Dingras, Pinili, Solsona, Bacarra, Piddig, and San Nicolas.
Laoag City’s Balay Silangan is expected to be inaugurated and be fully operational this April.
Meanwhile, the City Government of Batac already had a coordination meeting with PDEA and the Department of the Interior and Local Government regarding the establishment of its own Balay Silangan.
The provincial PDEA was also able to conduct eight negation operations which resulted to the arrest of one high value target and five drug personalities in the province.
Together with the Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office (INPPO), the provincial PDEA office was able to conduct 14 anti-illegal drug operations which resulted to the arrest of 14 street level individuals (SLIs), and the confiscation of 5.832 grams of shabu and 511.07 grams of marijuana.
Six illegal drug high value individuals and 24 SLIs also surrendered to the INPPO and PDEA.
