QC strengthens public order and safety, reporting lower incidence of index crimes

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – The prevalence of crime incidents in Quezon City declined significantly, the local government reported on Sunday (April 2).

From a total tally  of 160 recorded cases of index crimes in January and 161 cases in February, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) cited that the incident rate went down to 139 cases in March of 2023.

The list of presented crimes include murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, and carnapping of motor vehicles as well as motorcycles.

In addition, the QCPD also demonstrated a high crime solution efficiency rate of 92.73% for the first quarter of 2023 which indicates the effectiveness of the city’s public order initiatives together with the local law enforcement agency.

Mayor Joy Belmonte, in her function as the chair of QC Peace and Order Council, meanwhile commended the responsiveness of the police service in the city.

“We commend the QCPD for its quick response that resulted in a significant decrease of crime in our city. Rest assured that the city government will continue to work hand in hand with law enforcers to ensure the safety and security of our QCitizens and the community,” Belmonte said.

“Sa patuloy na pagtutulungan ng ating barangay at pulisya lalo na sa pagbabantay sa matataong lugar at tuwing disoras ng gabi, mas matitiyak ang kaligtasan ng ating QCitizens (With the continuous cooperation of our barangay units and police force especially in conducting surveillance to crowded areas at night, we can further assure the safety of our QCitizens),” she added.

The QCPD particularly attributes the reduction of criminal activities in the city to the public safety interventions by the local government such as the full utilization of the emergency assistance hotline QCitizen Helpline 122, consistent implementation of the 3-minute response time policy through the Integrated Command and Control Center (IC3), continuous conduct of functional simulation exercises, and round-the-clock surveillance to identified crime-prone areas.

This accomplishment makes the headway towards making Quezon City a safer and crime-free community. (PIA-NCR)
