ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR, Apr 5 (PIA) - Government officials here are gearing up for the upcoming 2023 Holy Week to ensure a safe and peaceful Holy Week for everyone in the province.

The Police Provincial Office (PPO) held recently a Provincial Joint Coordinating Conference, where officials from various agencies, including the Bureau of Fire Protection(BFP-9), the 53rd Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, Coast Guard Station, Provincial Tourism Office (PTO), Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), force commanders of Provincial Mobile Force Companies (PMFC), and chiefs of police of all police stations in the province were present.

The conference aimed to ensure the safety and security of Zambosurians during the Semana Santa. Discussions centered on the deployment, initiatives, activities, and security measures to be implemented in different parts of the province. The conference also aimed to inform the public through the conduct of information operations.

The PPO conducted red teaming/inspection at different police stations in the 1st and 2nd District of the province to ensure the alertness and preparedness of personnel deployed in public places.

Meanwhile, personnel from the BFP-9 conducted monitoring and site inspection at different municipal fire stations in the province. The purpose of this activity was to ensure that the activities of the “OPLAN SEMANA SANTA” are properly observed and that the operational preparedness and readiness of all operating units of the station are in place. They have also deployed personnel to bus terminals, churches, and barangays to provide assistance.
