LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte (PIA) - In an effort to promote community safety and increase police mobility, personnel of the Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office (INPPO) are all geared up for the implementation of the Oplan SumVac (Summer Vacation) in the province.
The deployment of police officers for Ligtas SumVac duty is an annual effort to address the increase in crimes and incidents during the summer season.
About 2,050 personnel from the Philippine Army, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) will be deployed for the SUMVAC.
As part of its operations, nine bicycles are also distributed to the lady bike patrollers to aid in their patrols and ensure better coverage of the local community.
The distribution of bicycles is expected to significantly improve the mobility of police patrols, especially in tourist destination areas, such as beaches and parks around the province.
With this, police officers can quickly respond to incidents and emergencies and maintain peace and order in the community.
According to PMaj. Jephre Taccad, Acting Chief of INPPO Community Affairs, the SumVac duty is a holistic approach wherein police officers in the province ensure peace and security in the province.
“Sila po yung mag-iikot po sa mga beaches, sa mga parks kung saan po ay kilala dito sa Ilocos Norte para po maiwasan po natin na magkaroon ng mga criminality sa mga nasabing lugar,” said Taccad.
The deployment of police officers on the Ligtas SUMVAC duty is expected to conclude by the end of May.
The provincial police force urges the public to cooperate and support their efforts and programs in maintaining the province’s security and safety.
INPPO Provincial Director PCol. Julius C. Suriben said they aim for zero tourist related-incidents in the province this summer season, and he assured that the deployed officers for the SumVac will provide the best peace and order to the Ilokanos and visitors in the province.
Also, he said they are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for residents and visitors, and these measures are a step toward achieving that goal. (JCR/MJTAB/IJUG PIA Ilocos Norte)
