More jobs in ZamPen through TESDA PBBM Cares program

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Apr 12 (PIA) – Residents of Zamboanga Peninsula will have more job opportunities through the ‘Paglingap sa Buhay ng Bawat Mamamayan’ or PBBM Cares program of Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA-9).

PBBM Cares is an initiative of TESDA-9 headed by Regional Director Dan Navarro who aims to generate more skilled workers in the region and help them land a job that matches their skills.

TESDA-9 recently launched the program in Zamboanga City last March 16, 2023 with TESDA scholars from various vocational schools as witnesses.

Deputy Director General Aniceto Bertiz III lauded its Region 9 team for the laudable region-conceptualized project for initiating the convergence that is people-centered in bringing a one-stop-shop of government services to help Filipinos access livelihood and jobs.

The PBBM Cares program is also aligned with the programs of Department of Labor and Employment and with the convergence of different National and Local Government Offices to help more workers. TESDA-9 set up a ‘paglingap’ desk in different municipalities in ZampPen especially the far-flung areas of the region which includes the municipality of Molave, Labason and Tampilisan.

‘Paglingap’ desk will cater to both skilled and unskilled workers who would are looking for job opportunities and upon filling out the registration form, the LGU will connect them with the different agencies the fits with their skills or to TESDA training centers for them to develop their skills.

Through the Key Employment Generators of DOLE-9, some of the in demand skills training in the region is in tourism, information and technology, manufacturing and agri-fishery processing. TESDA-9 offers various scholarship trainings to assist more students and produce more graduates. More than three hundred thousand graduates from TESDA-9 are recorded as of year 2022 and with 72% employment rate both local and foreign jobs.
