MANILA, (PIA) -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. approved on Tuesday the creation of a single operating system for all government transactions to ensure that doing business in the country will be made faster and more convenient.
In a meeting on improving bureaucratic efficiency, Marcos said that different agencies that make policies should consider the differences between the national government and the various local government units (LGUs).
Marcos said that there are political and local considerations that must be made in accordance with the law and that the government must consider the said issues.
Government officials who met with the President said that this is the reason why the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA), are now mapping the processes of various other agencies so they can integrate it into a single system.
Even the LGUs, they said, are covered by the "ease of doing business law."
The President also directed the DICT and ARTA to assist the LGUs in adopting the Business Permits and Licensing Systems in All Cities and Municipalities (BPLS) system.
Officials also said they have held stakeholder consultations involving all government agencies to review their processes and requirements with the aim of encouraging them to use a unified application form, linking them to the network, or through a “one-stop-shop.”
The proposal is to extend coverage to other types of businesses similar to what the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) did in creating a one-stop-shop for big-ticket investments. (PIA-NCR)
