SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – A total of 52 hired on-the-spot (HOTS) will be starting their new careers in their respective workplaces after the conduct of the 7th People’s Job Fair held at the CSI Mall’s atrium in this city on Wednesday.
The job fair was spearheaded by the city government through the Public Employment Services Office (PESO) in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment-La Union Field Office (DOLE-LUFO).
A total of 164 applicants applied in the job fair: 109 for local and 55 for overseas.
Around 5,000 job opportunities were opened, wherein 2,000 were local vacancies and 3,000 for overseas employment, offered by 32 local employers and four overseas recruiters.

Lorie Andrada, one of the HOTS under the Jolly Management, expressed her gratitude to the organizer of the job fair and to her employer.
She said, “Sa City of San Fernando, maraming salamat po sa opportunity, napakahalaga po ng ganitong event dahil hindi lahat ay aware sa mga ganitong bagay. Masaya ako, dahil bukod sa makakatulong ako sa family ko, matutulungan ko rin ang sarili ko."

According to City Mayor Hermenegildo Gualberto, this job fair is an avenue not only to form a beneficial partnership between an employer and employee but also an opportunity for the jobseekers especially the first timers to explore their careers.
“It is an opportunity to form beneficial partnerships between employer and employees. This is not just another gathering, but it is an avenue of hope for our Fernandos and Fernandas,” said Gualberto.
Also, he extended his gratitude to the local employers and overseas recruiters and partner agencies who took part in the job fair.
Further, as part of the one-day hiring process, a one-stop-shop services from partner agencies like the Social Security System (SSS), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Department of Migrant Workers, Pag-IBIG Fund, PhilHealth, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Education (DepEd), and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) were provided to cater the queries and needs of the clients.
