2 Cagayan centenarians get P100K from DSWD

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 02 (DSWD FO2) has recently awarded checks amounting to P100,000 to two (2) centenarians in this province.

According to the DSWD, Cristina J. Trinidad, aged 102, from Piat, Cagayan, and Laura Delgado Balao, aged 100, from Tuguegarao City, received their checks on April 12, 2023 as part of the Centenarian Program.

Wilma B. Asistores, centenarian program focal person of DSWD FO2, meanwhile read the felicitation letter from President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., expressing his appreciation for the great contributions of the beneficiaries to nation-building.

Moreover, the beneficiaries, together with their families expressed their gratitude for the grant, which will be used to buy food, medicines, and other supplies needed by the beneficiary.

The awarding was also graced by local government officials and representatives from the Office of the Senior Citizen Affairs.

Republic Act 10868 otherwise known as the Centenarians Act of 2016 entitles all Filipinos who reach 100 years old and above, whether living in the Philippines or abroad, to receive a letter of felicitation from the President of the Philippines and a centenarian gift worth P100,000.
