Mt. Province people remember war veterans for their sacrifices

BONTOC, Mountain Province (PIA)-- “Gawin nating inspirasyon ang pinakita ng ating magigiting na beterano upang patuloy tayong magkakaisa sa pagharap sa mga hamon ng kasalukuyang panahon.” (Let the gallantry and bravery of the veterans serve as inspiration to all in order for us to be united as we to face the challenges of the present time.)

Congressman Maximo Y. Dalog, Jr enjoined the people of Mountain Province as they joined the nation in the commemoration of the 81st Araw ng Kagitingan at the Rizal Monument, Provincial Plaza in Bontoc in April 10.

“Looking back to our history 81 years ago, our forefathers bravely fought for our freedom; young and old, men and women courageously stood for our country’s independence. Many lives were sacrificed for all Filipinos to completely enjoy liberty,” Dalog said as he thanked the veterans for their sacrifices for the people of the country to experience freedom.

“I reiterate that today is not just a day. It is a day to remember, reflect and be the influence of the values exemplified by our heroes. It is imperative that we become more open of things that have transpired in the past to be able to learn from the best that others have done. The highest levels that others have reached can give us invaluable pointers in refining our attitudinal preferences. We should not shirk from facing the truth, no matter how much it hurts. For as long as we do so, we can move forward to initiate reforms, create positive changes, become more decisive and effect definite improvement," he added.

The celebration with the theme, “Kagitingan ng mga Beterano, Pundasyon ng Nagkakaisang Filipino” started with an invocation led by Father Marcial Lloyd Castañeda.
