CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) --Northern Mindanao is set to stage a bigger celebration for this year's National Innovation Day.

The event dubbed "Northern Mindanao Regional Innovation Program and Exhibit 2023" is scheduled on April 20-22, 2023 at SM Cagayan de Oro (Uptown) with the theme "Strengthening the Innovation Ecosystem in Region X."

It is spearheaded by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA)-10 as the lead convenor with the Regional Research Development and Innovation Committee chaired by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-X, the Regional Inclusive Innovation Center through the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-10, and the Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation Inc. (Oro Chamber) as co-convenors.

The Northern Mindanao Regional Innovation Program and Exhibit 2023 event seeks to inform the public about the innovation ecosystem of Northern Mindanao; recognize regional innovation champions; and engender curiosity, creativity and agility among Filipinos, especially the youth.

It also aims to bring together experts and innovative leaders from across the region to help establish a network of innovators and forge an industry-academe-government-financiers collaboration.

Not only will it showcase Northern Mindanao’s best innovation programs, projects, and activities, but the three-day event will also feature Northern Mindanao’s Innovation Agenda and Strategy, the OroBest SPEED Platform, National Innovation Day 2023 Interactive Experience, and series of innovation talks.

Republic Act 11293 or the Philippine Innovation Act declared April 21 of every year as the National Innovation Day to promote public awareness and national support for innovation.

The Regional Development Council (RDC)-X during its 133rd meeting last month passed a resolution enjoining the support and participation of Northern Mindanao stakeholders in the National Innovation Day Celebration. (APB/PIA-10)
