DA Mimaropa opens ‘Kadiwa Market’ at OrMin’s provincial capitol

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) –  The Department of Agriculture (DA) Mimaropa Regional Executive Director Engr. Maria Christine C. Inting and Provincial Administrator Hubbert Christopher A. Dolor led recently the opening of the Kadiwa Market as part of the celebration of the High-Value Crops Week with the theme, “Green Revolution: Road Towards Exportation.”

The ‘Kadiwa Market’ was introduced during the term of former President Ferdinand E. Marcos, Sr., which aims to provide a market for local farmers and fisherfolks, and small business enterprises in selling major agricultural goods at reasonably low prices to help poor Filipino households.

In his speech, Dolor said the government valued the hard work of farmers and he also encouraged all farmers to continuously increase and improve their products in order to sell them to big public markets.

On the other hand, Inting emphasized the mandate of DA which is to ‘increase in production towards exportation.’ She said DA is ready for its continued partnership and support with the local government by means of providing programs for farmers in the province of Oriental Mindoro for them to increase their yields and the government will help in marketing their goods.

During the opening, DA Mimaropa also turned over to the Provincial Agriculture Office the 4,264 packs of different vegetable seeds valued at ₱213,200.  The Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) also provided the local government with 123 packs of different varieties of vegetables for the construction of the community gardens in the province.

Kadiwa Market at the provincial capitol compound will last until April 21, 2023. (LTC/PIA Mimaropa-OrMin)
