DICT ready to roll-out single operating system for gov’t transactions

DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) --The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) expressed its readiness for the roll-out of a single operating system for all government transactions.

The system was approved by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on April 11, 2023, to ensure faster, more streamlined, and convenient delivery of government services in the country.

DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy said the approval will expedite the implementation of the DICT’s e-governance programs and projects, which will create an interconnected and accessible government for the Filipino people.

“We at the DICT strive to provide a government that never sleeps and is accessible to the public 24/7 right at their fingertips,” the ICT chief said.

The DICT is dedicated to advancing the President’s directives, particularly in improving government efficiency through e-governance.

On December 2, 2022, the DICT launched the eGov Super App in collaboration with other government agencies. This initiative includes the development, implementation, and integration of E-Local Government Units (ELGU), E-Government Application (EGovApp), EGovpay, E-Travel, and E-Cloud, among others.

Moreover, the DICT is also working on a comprehensive e-commerce portal with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), which will allow Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to offer their products and services online.

This platform will integrate logistics, marketing, payments, access to credit, and source materials into a single ecosystem, simplifying the entire process for MSMEs and enabling them to participate in the digital economy.

“We welcome this timely action of President Marcos Jr. as we continue to promote ease of doing business while curbing red tape in government transactions through traceability and accountability,” Uy added. (dict/pia-ncr)
