BFP-CAR enhances fire safety campaign, stages open house for kids

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) - - In continuing efforts to increase public safety awareness and vigilance against fire and to drum up public support on OPLAN Ligtas na Pamayanan (OLP), the different stations of the Bureau of Fire Protection intensified the conduct information education drives including an open house for kids in observance of Fire Prevention Month.

Tabuk City Fire Marshall SINSP Ronald Rivera informed that they carried out their   info drive on air through Radyo Natin FM and Gimpong FM, and conducted fire drills simultaneous with the inspection of establishments such as government offices, hotels, boarding houses, resorts, hospitals and public markets. Establishments with fire safety deficiencies were given notice to comply subject for follow-up checking.

Markets were also provided with fire hydrants and coordination were done with the urban barangays of Bulanao and Dagupan on the roll out of the OLP, a whole-year round BFP fire protection plan for the communities.

Rivera shared that one of the highlights of the month-long observance of Fire Prevention Mont was the conduct of an open-house at the City Fire Station with demonstration on the use of fire-fighting apparatuses before kindergarten learners of the Boundless Mind Development Tutorial Center.

Pupils and their parents and guardians were toured on BFP facilities, tried fire-fighting apparatuses and given crash course on the basics of fire control.
 
 These activities highlighted during the Fire Prevention Month are continuing the whole-year-round, Rivera stressed.

Meanwhile, BFP Cordillera Regional Director SSupt.  Robert Pacis expressed his appreciation to the city government for its support to fire safety and prevention activities during the regional culmination of the Fire Prevention Month with the theme, "Sa Pag-iwas ng Sunog, Hindi ka Nag-iisa".

He emphasized that he had chosen Tabuk City as the location for the regional activity due to its compelling developments including road networks and infrastructures.

Tabuk City Mayor Darwin Estrañero, who was the guest of honor and speaker, commended all BFP personnel for their efforts in promoting fire awareness and prevention, encouraging them to continue safeguarding the populace against fire hazards.

 The ‘Medalya ng Papuri’ as also awarded to deserving BFP personnel in the CAR for their outstanding performance, dedication and commitment in maintaining community safety.  

In the same event, Tinglayan Mayor Sacrament Gumilab and Tanudan Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag requested for fire trucks for their municipalities to strengthen their fire response capabilities, which Pacis assured that BFP-CAR would do its best to provide for their needs this year.
