Pagadian City Jail, LGU-Vincenzo Sagun unite for environmental and social responsibility

ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR, 19 Apr (PIA) – The Pagadian City Jail Male Dormitory (PCJMD) recently carried out a series of charitable activities in the Municipality of Vincenzo Sagun that aims to support the local community and raise awareness about critical issues.

The coastal cleanup drive in Barangay Ambulon was a significant success, with several notable individuals, including the Barangay Captain, Sangguniang Bayan (SB) members, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairpersons, and personnel from Philippine National Police (PNP), that have actively participated in the event.

The team collected 30 sacks of garbage and properly segregated them to avoid water pollution and clogging along the coastal area. The drive aimed to raise awareness of marine debris problems and to maintain the coasts cleaner and healthier.

The PCJMD also organized an information drive, the End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) campaign, and drug awareness programs in the area, which promote public awareness of various programs and educate the community about the importance of civic responsibility.

JSINSP Adrian Paul M. Marantan expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome received from the Local Government Unit (LGU). The Jail Bureau provided certificates and tokens in recognition of their support.

In addition, the PCJMD gave school supplies to 50 students from Ambulon Elementary School, as part of its “ABAKADA” project. The program aimed to support underprivileged students and help them continue their learning during the ongoing crisis.

The PCJMD also organized the “Foodie Bayanihan on Wheels” initiative in collaboration with the local government officials of Vincenzo Sagun. The project involved the distribution of gift packs filled with essential goods such as rice, noodles and canned goods to 50 disadvantaged constituents of Barangay Ambulon. SK and PNP personnel were also involved in the initiative that aimed to aid those in need and foster community spirit and solidarity.

The PCJMD expressed its gratitude and appreciation to its partners for their continuous and steadfast support in ensuring the success of these projects. (RVC/EDT/HTB/PIA9-Zamboanga del Sur/with photos and reports from PCJMD)
