TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) - - The Regional Statistics Committee (RSCC) is set to conduct the actual data enumeration for Census on Agriculture and Fisheries (CAF) in Cagayan Valley Region. 

Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Director Girme Bayucan said CAF is a large-scale government undertaking that is geared toward the collection and compilation of basic information on the agriculture and fishery sectors in the Philippines. 

Based on Executive Order 352, a census on agriculture and fisheries is mandated to be conducted every ten years. 

"The census to be undertaken for this year will be the 7th of the series of decennial agricultural census and the 6th of the decennial census of fisheries in the country since the first census was purely on agriculture then," Bayucan said. 

He said the CAF will determine the structural characteristics of the region's agriculture and fisheries and provide the sampling frame for the conduct of periodic agricultural and fishery surveys and other related statistical undertakings. 

The census will also provide basic data for national as well as sub-national development planning, and basic data on agricultural and fisheries facilities and services in the barangays. 

The data to be collected include the crops that are produced in the sampled locality, livestock and poultry, aquaculture, and fisheries. 

The data collection period will start on May 2 and will end on July 31, 2023. (BME/OTB/PIA Region 2)
