3 flood control projects of DPWH commenced

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - The Department of Public Works and Highways - Isabela First District Engineering Office (DPWH-1DEO) has started the construction of flood control projects in March this year.

DPWH - 1DEO District Engr. Deoferio Vehemente Jr. said the three sites of the flood control projects are located at barangay Calamagui 2nd, Baligatan and Naguilian Sur this city.

Vehemente said his office has allotted P48.9 million from the General Appropriations Act of 2023 for the implementation of flood control project in Calamagui 2nd, P49 million for Baligatan, while P96 million was also allotted for Naguilian Sur.

He said the Calamagui 2nd flood control project is about 105 lineal meters, 116 meters for Baligatan while the Naguilian Sur flood control project has a measurement of 300 meters long both composed of reinforced concrete revetment on steel sheet piles which is designed to protect coastal and river-bank areas including urban and agricultural communities, homes, and other economically valuable areas and the people located within the area.

The DPWH - 1DEO official said the the two flood control projects in the City of Ilagan are expected to be completed on November or December this year.
