'Kulpi Ad Lagawe' celebrated from April 25-29

LAGAWE, Ifugao (PIA) – It’s fiesta time in this capital town as it celebrates “Kulpi ad Lagawe” with the theme, “A Thanksgiving Celebration” from April 25-29.

Deferred for three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is back this year with lots to offer.  

The festivity started with a civic parade around the town center participated by all government and non-government offices based in the municipality and an opening program and launching of the trade-fair at the public plaza in April 25.

Activities in April 26 include cultural parade, grand Kulpi program, Ifugao native dance competition, cultural sports competition and volleyball men and women and “Inabol” fashion show in the evening at the Don Bosco High School.

In April 27, among the lined-up activities are Zumba for a cause, merchants’ parade, inter-zone volleyball games, shoot fest, senior citizens’ Zumba competition, jobs fair, free legal aid, PSA PhlSys and civil registration and GSIS, SSS and Pa-ibig services at the Lagawe Central School gymnasium.

April 28 will be highlighted with the conduct of a pet parade, volleyball games, shoot fest, Bugan ya Wigan coronation night, the voice Lagawe grand finals.

Events for April 29 are theater advocacy competition and awarding ceremony.

“Kulpi” is a segment of the rice planting festival of the Ifugaos. This practice starts after the planting phase to implore the aid of the gods and spirits for the protection of the rice crops against diseases and pestilence thus ensuring a good harvest. (MBL, PIA CR, Ifugao)
