BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental (PIA) –- The Department of Health Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH WV CHD) with the Bacolod City Health Office held the Measles-Rubella and Oral Polio Vaccine Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR-OPV SIA) in Bacolod City.

DOH 6 Regional Director Dr. Adriano P. Suba-an and Bacolod City Health Office Department Head II Dr. Ma. Carmela P. Gensoli led the regional campaign launch, which aims to give added protection to children against measles-rubella and polio.

Suba-an led the kick off and immunization activity for free to children five years old and below as part of the 58,000 target children in Bacolod City.

“With MR-OPV SIA, diseases like measles-rubella and polio can be prevented among children,” Gensoli said.

“That is why I encourage all parents to join the ‘Chikiting Ligtas Supplemental Immunization Activity’ this month of May. So starting May 1 to 31, bring your kids ages 0-59 months old so they get vaccinated for free in your nearest health centers,” Benitez said.

The MR-OPV SIA launching in Bacolod City is part of the nationwide vaccination campaign of the DOH in order to address the rising cases of measles-rubella and polio in the country. *(JBG/EAD-PIA6 Negros Occidental)
