Over 4K jobs available at Labor Day celebration

ILOILO CITY (PIA) –- Job seekers were encouraged to apply for various career opportunities as the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 6 will stage the Labor Day Job Fair at Robinsons Place Iloilo.  

An estimated 4,641 jobs are up for grabs with 56 participating local companies, 15 Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) firms, and two overseas agencies.

These companies are looking for employees to be assigned under the food and accommodation services, administrative and support services, agriculture, forestry, and fishing, construction, financial and insurance, health and social work, information and communication, manpower services, manufacturing, and transport.

“Sa mga manggagawang Pinoy here in region 6, ako’y nananawagan sa gusto pang humanap ng trabaho. Doon sa mga unemployed that wanted to have jobs, there will be a job fair to be conducted in Iloilo and there are so many vacancies offered by the employers,” DOLE 6 Regional Director lawyer Sixto Rodriguez Jr. said in a recent press conference.  

Data from DOLE 6 showed that there were 433 pre-registered applicants.

Government agencies such as the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), PhilHealth, Social Security System (SSS), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), Employees' Compensation Commission (ECC), Public Employment Service Office (PESO), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), National Labor Relations Commission 

(NLRC), National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB), Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB), Philippine Army, Philippine Postal Corporation, and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will also be stationed to provide assistance to the applicants.

Labor education will likewise be highlighted to include employment counseling, labor rights awareness, and TESDA skills demo.

Apart from the job fair, DOLE Iloilo Field Office will release the integrated livelihood assistance projects and TUPAD (Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers) pay amounting to P20.5 million.

This year’s Labor Day is observed with the theme “Pabahay, Bilihing Abot-Presyo, Benepisyo ng Matatag na Trabaho Para sa Manggagawang Pilipino.” (JBG/LMLE/PIA Iloilo)
