DOLE 4A holds job fair, distributes grants on Labor Day

ANTIPOLO CITY (PIA) — Thousands of job seekers flocked to the 2023 Labor Day Job Fair organized by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 4-A at the Ynares Center on Monday, May 1.

The DOLE 4-A said at least 53 participating employers offered around 6,000 jobs to over 1,300 applicants who registered for the regionwide job fair.

The agency added that at least 278 job seekers were hired-on-the-spot and some 219 were referred to the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for further training.

Jobseekers also sought assistance from government agencies including the Social Security System, PAG-IBIG Fund, Department of Information and Communications Technology, Wage Board Calabarzon, and the Philippine Statistics Authority, it added.

Aside from the job fair, DOLE 4-A also distributed a total of P30-million worth of assistance to the beneficiaries of the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP), Government Internship Program (GIP), and the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD).

The DILP assistance recipients include the Sipsipin Multipurpose Cooperative, which received P994,223 for the 98 vegetable noodle production beneficiaries, while the Tenants’ Association of the City Mall of Antipolo received P449,325 assistance for its 60 garment production beneficiaries.

The DOLE 4-A, joined by Rizal Governor Nina Ricci Ynares, Antipolo City Vice Mayor Josefina Gatlabayan and DOLE Rizal OIC Engr. Joseph Gacosta also turned over P11 million cash grant to each of the 14 local government units of Rizal province to fund their employment programs.

Also part of the 121st Labor Day celebration was the turnover of P6.9 million in cash assistance to some 1,400 beneficiaries of the DOLE TUPAD.

Renewing its commitment to supporting the constituents of Rizal, DOLE 4-A Regional Director Roy Buenafe thanked the provincial government and the Antipolo City government for their assistance in organizing the labor day fair.

“Hahanapin namin ang mga taong naghahanp ng trabaho para mabigyan namin ng oportunidad. Hindi kami papayag na may taong walang trabaho at walang hanapbuhay,” Buenafe said.

Director Buenafe added that the agency is eyeing to conduct programs in far-flung sitio and purok areas. (GG/PIA-Rizal)
