GAD fund supports surgical mission

NEGROS OCCIDENTAL (PIA) –- The provincial government of Negros Occidental, through its 2022 Gender and Development Budget, gave P2-million to Nikki Cares Foundation to support its surgical mission at the Valladolid District Hospital.

Nikki Cares Foundation, headed by Bacolod City First Lady Dominique “Nikki” Lopez-Benitez, brought doctors and nurses of the Makati Medical Center for the mission that benefited thousands of indigent beneficiaries in Negros Occidental, including Bacolod City.

More than 1,000 beneficiaries availed of free minor and major operations, and other medical services during a surgical mission.

Among the minor cases attended to during the three-day event included almost 200 incisions and 72 circumcisions.

Close to 100 were classified under general surgery and 24 were Obstetrics and Gynaecology cases.



About 500 patients also availed of the free eye check-up and free reading glasses.

The Provincial GAD Focal Point System also approved P1-million from the 2023 GAD Fund as support to the women's health project of the foundation. (AAL/EAD/PIA6 Negros Occidental)
