DOLE outs P2.6M worth of TUPAD salary for Magdiwang workers

ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) -- At least 491 Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged / Displaced (TUPAD) workers in Magdiwang, Romblon have received their salary during the celebration of this year's Labor Week.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Mimaropa region, through its provincial office in Romblon, released a total of P2,614,575 to the beneficiaries on May 1 together with the local government of Magdiwang and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Romblon Provincial Office.

During the ceremony, DOLE Romblon provincial director Carl Villafores awarded the check to the local government of Magdiwang represented by Mayor Arthur Rey Tansiongco as the Accredited Co-Partner in the implementation of the TUPAD program.

Meanwhile, in her address, Magdiwang PESO Manager Engr. Sheilah Sofia Rance thanked the DOLE for bringing the programs and services to the islands like Sibuyan and always bringing hope to its constituents through employment and even sustainable livelihoods.

sa ating Labor Day celebration at the same time kasama po natin ang ating TUPAD beneficiaries, nagpapasalamat tayo sa lahat ng biyaya na nanggagaling sa DOLE at bawat taon ay hindi tayo pinapabayaan," saidRance.

Meanwhile, Villaflores uttered his heartfelt gratitude to all workers whose life was dedicated to service for the people and whose hard work has made a significant impact on the community.

"As we celebrate this day, let us remember that the government through DOLE is committed in uplifting the living and social conditions of every Filipino worker. We also remember and honor the sacrifices and tireless efforts of those who came before us that we enjoy the rights and protections we have today," he said.
