Capiz pushes strict compliance to 'MPHS' anew

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) -- The provincial government of Capiz has pushed anew the strict compliance to the Department of Health's Minimum Public Health Standards (MPHS) amid the increasing number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in the province.

Gov. Fredenil Castro, in a video message, stressed the need of wearing face masks in crowded places, washing of hands with soap and water, and maintaining social distance as the mitigating measures against the spread of the viral infection.

"Avoid touching your mouth, eyes and nose with dirty hands especially those who remain unvaccinated until now," noted the governor, adding that the preventive measures will not lead to quarantines, isolations, and lockdowns which have greatly affected economic activities.

Based on the Provincial Health Office (PHO) data, a total of 534,661 out of

the 583,345 target population for COVID-19 vaccination in the province are fully-vaccinated or those who received their second dose series as of May 1.

"Get vaccinated so that you will be protected from critical implications and hospitalization due to COVID-19," he stressed.

The province has accumulated a total of 13,698 COVID-19 confirmed cases composed of 31 active cases, 13,086 recoveries and 581 deaths based on the PHO data as of May 9. (AGP/AAL/PIA Capiz)
