LAGAWE, Ifugao (PIA) --The local government of Lagawe recognizes the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as movers of the economy. As a tribute to the sector, it initiated with the Department of Trade and Industry- Ifugao the first Merchants Parade Contest as a highlight of the town fiesta, Kulpi Ad Lagawe.
At least 24 local entrepreneurs participated in the event with the theme “Walk your Identity.”
Councilor Eric Jason Dugyon, Sangguniang Bayan Chairperson of the Committee on Trade and Industry, lauded the participants for their effort in showcasing and promoting their businesses through floats that were paraded along the town recently.
The criteria for judging focused on Craftsmanship in the arts creation (30%); Relevance of the design of decorations, concept of their showcased products, and theme (30%); Uniqueness and Originality of Concept (20%), and Overall impact (20%).
RBG Computers Cellshop and Enterprises emerged the big winner with P25,000 cash prize. Kay-ang Hill Travelers Inn and Riverview Restaurant ranked second and third with cash prize of P20,000 and P15,000, respectively.
Tribu Sabsabali, Coni’s Kitchen & Hang-out, Kanto Cucina, Gio & Gibs Gowns & Events, and Pedros Pizza also won consolation prizes of P10,000 each.
DTI- Ifugao OIC- Director Engr. Francis Pacio encouraged entrepreneurs to continue to be the backbone of the economy. He also enjoined the community to patronize and support the local businesses in the province.
“The merchants or MSMEs are the movers of our economy. Be fair in your dealings and transactions, and continue to improve your product and services,” said Pacio.
He urged the MSMEs to give their customers the best value for their money as he encouraged the community to go local and buy local.
