MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)-- Acknowledging the importance of the tourism sector in the economic development, the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur issued an Executive Order reactivating the Provincial Tourism, Culture and Arts Council (PTCAC).
Acting Governor Mohammad Khalid Adiong signed Executive Order No. 007 on April 26, 2023 reconstituting the council and defining its duties and functions.
According to the Provincial Tourism Office, the reorganization was in response to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s directive to boost the tourism industry and fast-track its recovery from the effects of the pandemic.
The PTCAC is composed of 43 members from the government and private sector with a seven-member technical working group.
It is primarily tasked to formulate plans and policies for arts, cultural preservation, and tourism development.
The Council will also serve as an advisory body to the Provincial Governor on matters concerning tourism, culture and arts, as well as, in the evaluation and recommendation of certain spots to be declared as tourism zones in the province.
Moreover, the PTCAC will also act as a coordinating body with the Department of Tourism and other concerned government agencies. (APB/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
