CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga(PIA) -- The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Kalinga Chapter launched a school-based health caravan at the largest public school here in celebration of World Red Cross Day last May 8.
Held at the Tabuk City Central School in partnership with the Parents and Teachers Association and volunteers, the caravan provided services that include personal hygiene lecture, distribution of school supplies, supplemental feeding, blood-letting and cardiopulmonary resuscitation demonstration, said PRC-Kalinga Chapter Leader Raymund Chan.
PRC Kalinga Chapter Chairperson Floydelia Diasen said starting awareness on personal hygiene at a young age is important to an individual’s health. Children who belong to the vulnerable sector need basic education on prevention and this starts with a person’s hygiene care, she explained.
This activity is timely especially with the emergency health concerns we are facing right now, Diasen noted.
Chan shared that the chapter has set other community based services as part of this year’s observance. (JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
