PMA presents Top 10, awardees of 'Madasigon' Class of 2023

BAGUIO CITY (PIA) -- A son of a retired Air Force soldier is this year’s top graduating cadet of the Philippine Military Academy.

Cadet First Class Warren Leonor of Lipa City, Batangas will lead the 311-strong graduating cadets of the “Mandirigmang may Dangal Simbolo ng Galing at Pagbangon” (MADASIGON) Class of 2023. 

Leonor will receive  the Presidential Saber from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. during the PMA graduation rites on Sunday, May 21, 2023.

He will also receive the Australian Defense Best Overall Performance Award, Academic Group Award, Social Sciences Plaque, Air Force Professional Courses Plaque, General Antonino Luna Award, Spanish Armed Forces Award, Philippine Air Force Saber, National Security Studies Plaque, Management Plaque, Tactic Group Award, SPDU Plaque and the Jusmag Saber.

Cadet First Class Edmundo Logronio from Manito, Albay, a son of a farmer and a housewife, is second and will be receive the Vice-Presidential Saber.

As the top cadet joining the Philippine Army, he will receive the Philippine Army Saber, the Australia Defense Best Overall Performance Award, Aguinaldo Saber, Department of Tactical Officers Plaque and Army Professional Courses Plaque.

Top. 3 is   Cadet 1CL Nicole Sarmiento from Butuan City, Agusan Del Norte and No. 4 is Cadet 1CL Zhen Zhen Cayton from Dupax del Norte, Nueva Vizcaya.

Cadet 1CL Rez Mark Cantor from Bugallon, Pangasinan is Top 5. She will receive the Philippine Navy Saber, and Australian Defense Best Overall Performance Award.  

In the Top 6 spot is Cadet 1CL Rojan Macario from Zamboanga City and Barlig, Mountain Province; Top 7 is Cadet 1CL Samuel Banac from West Fairview, Quezon City and Top 8 is Cadet 1CL Kimberly Kate Lawingan from Sadanga, Mountain Province.

Cadet 1CL Rico Jay Fernandez from Molave, Zamboanga del Sur is the Top 9 and will receive the Association of Generals and Flag Officers, Inc. Award and the Department of Leadership Plaque.

Top 10 is   Cadet 1CL Arla Krish Bahingawan from Kiangan, Ifugao. She is the recipient of the Department of Humanities Plaque and the Chief Justice Saber.

Other achievers and awardees of the PMA MADASIGON Class of 2023 include Cadet 1CL John Troy Albano from Tagum City, Davao del Norte (Chief of Staff Saber), Cadet 1CL Jeuel Ariel Wangwang from Bontoc, Mountain Province(Department of Information Technology Plaque),  Cadet 1CL Carlo Andrei Valencia from Carmona, Cavite(Natural Sciences Plaque) Cadet 1CL Jasper Balunso from Albay, Bicol(Navy Courses Professional Plaque) , and Cadet 1CL John Cris Galusmo from Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental as Journalism awardee

Graduating as Cum Laude are Cadet 1CL Ma Ysabelle Verzosa from Baguio City, Cadet 1CL Deniel Louie Castor from Calinog, Iloilo, Cadet 1CL JL Escauriasa from Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, Cadet 1CL Alvin Uday from Amulung, Cagayan, Cadet 1CL Richter James Escobia from Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat, Cadet 1CL Rhyll Romerosa from Iligan City, Lanao Del Norte and Cadet 1CL Henry Cordova from Pikit, North Cotabato.

Cadet 1CL John Rozz Oggang of Tinglayan, Kalinga who is also a Cum Laude,  is this year’s Athletic Saber male awardee  while Cadet 1CL Alliyah Mae Lopinac from Hermosa, Bataan is the Athletic Saber female awardee. 

 PMA officials led by Superintendent Rowen Tolentino presented the graduating cadets during the Kapihan media forum on May 8 at the Fort Del Pilar in Baguio City. 

 The MADASIGON Class of 2023 is composed of 239 males and 72 females. 158 will join the Philippine Army, 65 to the Philippine Air Force and 77 to the Philippine Navy. (JDP/RMC- PIA-CAR)
